Becoming a plumber is a two-pronged process that includes practical training and study. Traditionally, a hopeful plumber begins a four- or five-year apprenticeship program to receive technical education and complete the required hours of on-the-job training under a licensed professional. Plumbers who have successfully completed their apprenticeship are known as journeymen.
"Woke up on Saturday morning to find my garage flooded and quickly isolated the culprit: my Hot Water Tank. After several inquiries I decided to hire Dr.(David) Dees Plumbing to replace my Hot Water Tank. He arrived that same day at the specified time, evaluated the situation, gave me a couple of options including my contacting the builder of my home to inquire about a possible free replacement (nice to do business with an ethical guy). Because of my time constraints I decided to have David replace the tank. I couldn't be happier with the price and service. He is honest, competent (Master Plumber), conscientious, professional, clean and friendly. He delivered a professional installation of a commercial grade (Gas) Hot Water Tank compliant with all Fort Worth building/installation codes. He answered all my questions. Shared some maintenance tips to extend the life of my tank. Disposed of the old tank and cleaned up his work space afterwards. If there was a grade higher than "Outstanding" I would give it. I would have no problem rehiring David for future plumbing jobs or recommending him to my friends and acquaintances. A+++++ for service and price. Signed Paul D in Fort Worth, TX"

Our water heater had stopped heating. I gave A&A a call and although they could not take the call that day August was nice enough to suggest what the issue could be. Given this I took it upon myself to remedy the problem. I therefore replaced the Pilot assembly but somehow this did not resolve the issue. I then informed A&A I still had an issue and scheduled a new appointment. To my chagrin, no one showed up at the appointed time. However, the next morning August called to see if I had resolved the issue, apologize for missing his appointment and offer assistance. However, prior to his call I made another appointment with another plumber but he did not show either. I called August back and he came right away. Turns out I actually had fixed the problem but was not igniting the heater properly. August did not charge me for his help. Thank you August. All's well that ends well.

I was disappointed with the pressure of a tub and shower that were plumbed with 1/2 supply lines (2nd floor). Could be low pressure from the street, but I want to replace with 5/8. Plus, I'd like to have 2 back to back showers, one inside and one outside. So, I had intended to bring a 1 supply to both, then branch up to valves and shower head with 5/8. Finally, I thought pressure from the street was typically 55 to 70 psi and I am concerned if pvc can take that.Any thoughts?
I live in central PA where we have very hard water. I was living with my father-in-law when he got a new water heater because he wanted more capacity. I don't know how old the old one was, but i do know that after it was replaced, we were replacing coils every 6-8 months. This is on top of a new coffee pot every couple of months. He would just buy a $10-$20 pot because the 'better' ones would die too. After we installed the Eddy Water Descaler a little over two years ago, he hasn't had to replace either of those things. I can't speak to how efficient it is compared to other options, but in the time since installing it, it has certainly made noticeable differences to dish spots, hard water deposits, and life expectancy of appliances. It may seem like mumbo jumbo, but there is absolutely something to them, they do work well. And in retrospect, maybe having had it installed earlier would've saved him from feeling like he needed to replace he water heater because it would've been running more efficiently. https://youtube.com/embed/hokTzqWiBMQ

Don’t flush floss, tampons, or even so-called “flushable” wipes. They don’t break down like toilet paper does and can come back to haunt you later. “Toilets are more water-efficient now than they were 20 years ago, so there sometimes isn’t enough volume in the flush to force debris down,” says Marcin Wroblewski, president of ExpressRooter Plumbing in Toronto. “An object will get lodged in the trap and cause blockage when waste builds up days later.”

Augering the sewer main line is Roto-Rooter's stock in trade, a service they have been providing since the 1930s. The process begins by wheeling their large root-cutting machine into your house and as close as possible to your sewer trap. Electric access is needed. The technician opens up the sewer trap and advances the auger down the sewer line. At the end is a rotating cutting head that cuts into shreds the soft obstructions, sending them down the sewer line and to the city main line. The Roto-Rooter machine is even strong enough to cut through tree roots. But should the tree root prove to be too strong, it might break the auger head.

Had a mainline clog, called on a Monday morning at 8am, left a message.  They called me back and Jesse came out by 9:30am.  Beat out four other plumbers I called!  Jesse was very polite and kind and quickly diagnosed the problem.  Used roof access to clean out the clog with his snake device for $185.  I'm not how sure how that price compares with others, but seemed reasonable.
I had another lady who said she wanted to run to the grocery store to get some coffee to make for me and my guys while we were installing her new kitchen. She said she was just gonna run to the store and asked if we wouldn’t mind keeping an eye out for her one-year-old daughter who was sleeping at the time. We said fine, but she ended up not returning until four hours later. The kid was screaming her head off and we didn’t know what to do. We tried holding her. We didn’t know if she was hungry or what to feed her. She just kept crying.
Flexible plastic tubing can be used to circulate hot water below your home’s flooring. This is known as hydronic heating. The water/liquid is stored in a boiler and pushed into a plumbing manifold so that it can be properly circulated throughout your home floors as designed. While this is a very beneficial way to radiate heat through your floors during colder seasons, hydronic heating can develop some serious problems that require plumbing repair.
Plumbers in Australia have licensing requirements that differ from state to state but it is generally accepted a 4-year apprenticeship with a further minimum experience of 2 years (6 years total) and a further curricular requirement as a benchmark for licensing. Licensed plumbers are also expected to maintain minimum relevant training requirements to maintain their plumbing license
The difference between pipes and tubes is simply in the way it is sized. PVC pipe for plumbing applications and galvanized steel pipe for instance, are measured in IPS (iron pipe size). Copper tube, CPVC, PeX and other tubing is measured nominally, which is basically an average diameter. These sizing schemes allow for universal adaptation of transitional fittings. For instance, 1/2" PeX tubing is the same size as 1/2" copper tubing. 1/2" PVC on the other hand is not the same size as 1/2" tubing, and therefore requires either a threaded male or female adapter to connect them. When used in agricultural irrigation, the singular form "pipe" is often used as a plural.[19]

I was in the middle of a kitchen remodel and ran into a problem that I thought I could fix myself. When taking down a wall to open up the kitchen, I found a vent/waste galvanized pipe that went from the floor below all the way out to the roof top. I also need the water supply lines moved to the new location, but had very little room to work with in the ceiling below the kitchen. The more I analyzed and researched the scope of the project, the more I realized this was over my head and it was time to call in the experts.
When you book an affordable plumber, whether it's to fix a broken boiler or to unclog a drain, you want to know they're skilled enough for the task at hand. Nothing is worse than sending an amateur with a wrench to look at your pipes. Odds are, there will be more damage than when they started. All plumbers on the Handy platform are vetted, verified, and background checked way before they arrive at your home, so you can be sure that they're the right person for the job.  http://youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=hokTzqWiBMQ
Abe managed to make an unexpected repair and expense a lot less stressful and if you can imagine, even relaxing. His expertise and professionalism were perfect. He was flexible and accommodating to all of our questions, provided options and information, and never made us feel pressured. I would have him back again in a heartbeat if ever needed. Thank you for having such a great team!
If a plumber needs to do major repairs to your house, the work could call for a permit. You'll want this since a permit provides added assurance that the work is done correctly. Having this added measure in place means an inspector will check the work your contractor or plumber does to ensure he or she did the job correctly. If you ever plan on putting your house or commercial building on the market, a real estate agent and prospective buyers will also want to check any large work you did to make sure it was done properly.

Never try there service.....These ppl only tell lies...they give you 2 hours of window and when you call them to ask when there person gonna come for work they have no answer and the lady who is answering doesnt have any idea what is going on. She tells that plumber has not done with his first job but he will be there at your place on time. These ppl are wasting out time and not providing any good service. Worst service i have ever seen and operators are too rude to talk. They will yell at you if you start asking more questions or ask them to justify there answer. And later they threaten you to cancel your appointment. Either they should close there shop or they should ask someone professional to manage there time slot which they provide to the customers. These ppl are good for nothing.

The straight sections of plumbing systems are called "pipes" or "tubes". A pipe is typically formed via casting or welding, whereas a tube is made through extrusion. Pipe normally has thicker walls and may be threaded or welded, while tubing is thinner-walled and requires special joining techniques such as brazing, compression fitting, crimping, or for plastics, solvent welding. These joining techniques are discussed in more detail in the piping and plumbing fittings article.
Sewer lines can become clogged in either of two ways: obstructions that build up in the line from usage or obstructions that intrude on the line from outside. Over time, greases, fats, hair, and other items sent down the branch drains can build up on the walls of the sewer line and narrow its capacity. When that capacity is low enough, showers and tubs will not drain and toilets will not flush properly. Another way that a sewer line's capacity can be compromised is when elements outside of the line, namely tree roots, enter the line. Despite the strength of sewer pipe materials, tree roots' growth can be strong enough to penetrate the line.
No plumber is going to come right out and explain that they don’t have the required license to work for you. So if you know someone who is a great plumber, but they don’t have a license, hire them at your own risk. Licensed plumbers know the local building codes and regulations, have completed a certain amount of hours on the job and are insured. Want to become a master plumber yourself? Here are 28 tips.

High-pressure pipe jetting is also known as hydro jetting or high-pressure pipe cleaning, and it uses a high-pressure water stream to clean pipes that are partially or completely blocked. With this approach, a slim hose with a jet nozzle is inserted into the pipe, and used to blast the pipe's interior with pressurized water. High-pressure pipe jetting can clear tough blockages and buildup, and can remove sediment, sludge, and grease from the sides of your pipes.
The movement of liquids and gases through pipes is critical to modern life. In homes, water is needed for both drinking and sanitation. In factories, chemicals are moved to aid in product manufacturing. In power plants, steam is moved to drive turbines that generate electricity. Plumbers, pipefitters, and steamfitters install and repair these pipe systems.
An environmentally friendly commercial plumbing system is one that is designed to save water and reduce energy costs. These plumbing systems use pipes that are sized to minimize waste and leaks. They often take steps to minimize heat loss by using pipe insulators, or replacing existing pipes with ones made with materials that maintain heat. Environmentally friendly commercial plumbing systems also use faucets, showerheads, and toilets that are designed to minimize water consumption.

August came out to inspect 3 septic tanks on a property I had in escrow. He is extremely knowledgeable. As a real estate broker and property manager, I've hired countless plumbing and septic companies over the years. He was on time, professional, got right to work, took his time and did a very thorough inspection. The value he provided was the best investment I made on this deal. Hiring knowledgeable contractors to inspect your properties is your best insurance against loss and he saved me tens of thousands of dollars with the information he provided.
Called for a quote on an issue we had with our septic. I am new to septic systems and definitely not a professional so when I was trying to explain to August what I was trying to get looked at, he practically attacked me saying "so you want to ruin your septic tank?!" Obviously not, I was trying to get help, from what I thought was an industry professional, so that I DIDN'T ruin my system!
I called ProDrain and scheduled an appointment. They called me a day earlier and notified me of an earlier appointment that became available. Chris Terrones came out and unclogged our drain within 30 minutes.  Chris was very friendly and professional. On top of the excellent service, we saved a couple hundred dollars by using ProDrain & Rooter Service instead of Roto Rooter. Highly recommend. http://m.youtu.be/hokTzqWiBMQ

In Ireland, a 4-year apprenticeship plus qualification exam was necessary for someone to practice professionally. Accreditation of businesses are of great help in order to show their credibility and experience in the job. Providing emergency call out service was one of advantage of a plumbing business in the area offering 24/7 service, anytime, anywhere.

The word "plumber" dates from the Roman Empire.[3] The Latin for lead is plumbum. Roman roofs used lead in conduits and drain pipes[4] and some were also covered with lead, lead was also used for piping and for making baths.[5] In medieval times anyone who worked with lead was referred to as a plumber as can be seen from an extract of workmen fixing a roof in Westminster Palace and were referred to as plumbers "To Gilbert de Westminster, plumber, working about the roof of the pantry of the little hall, covering it with lead, and about various defects in the roof of the little hall".[6] Thus a person with expertise in working with lead was first known as a Plumbarius which was later shortened to plumber.
Each Government at the state level has their own Authority and regulations in place for licensing plumbers. They are also responsible for the interpretation, administration and enforcement of the regulations outlined in the NCC.[38] These Authorities are usually established for the sole purpose of regulating plumbing activities in their respective states/territories. However, several state level regulation acts are quite outdated, with some still operating on local policies introduced more than a decade ago. This has led to an increase in plumbing regulatory issues not covered under current policy, and as such, many policies are currently being updated to cover these more modern issues. The updates include changed to the minimum experience and training requirements for licensing, additional work standards for new and more specific kinds of plumbing, as well as adopting the Plumbing Code of Australia into state regulations in an effort to standardise plumbing regulations across the country.[39] Plumbing Repair Click Here
