Some states do not require plumbers to be licensed, but for the safety of your house, it is important to have a licensed plumber to do the needed work. A licensed plumber means the person completed the necessary education or training required to work as a professional tradesperson. Hiring a licensed plumbing service means the people working on your building are knowledgeable about water and gas pipes.
Don’t flush floss, tampons, or even so-called “flushable” wipes. They don’t break down like toilet paper does and can come back to haunt you later. “Toilets are more water-efficient now than they were 20 years ago, so there sometimes isn’t enough volume in the flush to force debris down,” says Marcin Wroblewski, president of ExpressRooter Plumbing in Toronto. “An object will get lodged in the trap and cause blockage when waste builds up days later.” https://m.youtu.be/hokTzqWiBMQ

Troy Chiles came to my house to review the work of a rooter technician. By the time Troy left, I knew more about my plumbing system than I've ever known before. He gave me the information I needed to make a no-pressure, educated decision about my problem. He was on-time and polite and helped me through my situation. I was undoubtedly use him again.
Commercial plumbing systems might need the following types of maintenance services: Drain care can prevent blockages, and it helps ensure that grease traps and drain lines function properly. Restroom disinfection can prevent noxious odors from developing in drains and sink traps . Water heater and boiler maintenance ensures that these appliances are always in good working order and don’t create problems for your business. Backwater testing prevents pollution of the community's water supply. Commercial buildings usually have a backflow prevention assembly that stops the system's water from flowing back into the public water system. States typically require annual testing of backflow prevention assemblies, and if you fail this test, your company could be hit with a fine. Regular maintenance can help make sure your backflow prevention assembly is up to code. Water tempering can help prevent your employees from getting scalded by hot water by maintaining safe water temperatures. These valves need to be regularly inspected to make sure they're functioning properly.
When you book an affordable plumber, whether it's to fix a broken boiler or to unclog a drain, you want to know they're skilled enough for the task at hand. Nothing is worse than sending an amateur with a wrench to look at your pipes. Odds are, there will be more damage than when they started. All plumbers on the Handy platform are vetted, verified, and background checked way before they arrive at your home, so you can be sure that they're the right person for the job.
Our kitchen sink was stopped up this morning due to me pouring something down that I shouldn't have. I tried pouring boiling water down the drain, to no avail, vinegar/soda, again, not helpful, then called the Professionals, ProDrain & Rooter Service. Chris arrived at 4:30 pm, took the drain apart, rinsed out the gunk and the sink was running like a Champ! I would not hesitate to call ProDrain & Rooter Service for any type of plumbing problem.
Plumbers in Australia have licensing requirements that differ from state to state but it is generally accepted a 4-year apprenticeship with a further minimum experience of 2 years (6 years total) and a further curricular requirement as a benchmark for licensing. Licensed plumbers are also expected to maintain minimum relevant training requirements to maintain their plumbing license
George appeared on my doorstep at the expected time and immediated sized up the situtation. I liked that he explained the possible options and listened to me as well. The drain clean out was on the other side of the house, so we elected to go in through the roof vent instead. I could tell that getting that snake to where it needed to be was a bit of a black art, as was knowing when he had hit the obstruction. Because you see, there was a solid object in the drain which didn't belong there. Was it a matchbox car? Fisher-price little people? Uncle Roy's missing cell phone? We will never know but plenty of water and reaming pretty much insured it wasn't going to be a problem any more. http://www.youtube.com/v/hokTzqWiBMQ&feature=share

I called ProDrain and scheduled an appointment. They called me a day earlier and notified me of an earlier appointment that became available. Chris Terrones came out and unclogged our drain within 30 minutes. Chris was very friendly and professional. On top of the excellent service, we saved a couple hundred dollars by using ProDrain & Rooter Service instead of Roto Rooter. Highly recommend. Men, beware, Chris is a "cutie" according to my girlfriend. Who knows what other drains could have been unclogged if I weren't there...
August came out to inspect 3 septic tanks on a property I had in escrow. He is extremely knowledgeable. As a real estate broker and property manager, I've hired countless plumbing and septic companies over the years. He was on time, professional, got right to work, took his time and did a very thorough inspection. The value he provided was the best investment I made on this deal. Hiring knowledgeable contractors to inspect your properties is your best insurance against loss and he saved me tens of thousands of dollars with the information he provided. His company is moving to the #1 spot on my list for plumbing or septic services. I highly recommend him and will refer him to any of my friends/colleagues knowing they'll be well taken care of at a fair price

I'm on my third Central vac over a period of 15 years. All have been Kenmore. I have a 2500 sq ft home, I vacuum every day. Aways burn out the power head, hence why I am shopping again. I have flooring & carpet throughout. I want lots of power& a hose that doesn't kink (what a pain that has become) I refuse to spend more than $700, as they just don't last. Any suggestions? I've been checking out Electrolux........
PBT – flexible (usually gray or black) plastic pipe which is attached to barbed fittings and secured in place with a copper crimp ring. The primary manufacturer of PBT tubing and fittings was driven into bankruptcy by a class-action lawsuit over failures of this system. However, PB and PBT tubing has since returned to the market and codes, typically first for "exposed locations" such as risers. http://youtube.com/watch?feature=youtube_gdata&v=hokTzqWiBMQ

For many centuries, lead was the favoured material for water pipes, because its malleability made it practical to work into the desired shape. (Such use was so common that the word "plumbing" derives from plumbum, the Latin word for lead.) This was a source of lead-related health problems in the years before the health hazards of ingesting lead were fully understood; among these were stillbirths and high rates of infant mortality. Lead water pipes were still widely used in the early 20th century, and remain in many households. In addition, lead-tin alloy solder was commonly used to join copper pipes, but modern practice uses tin-antimony alloy solder instead, in order to eliminate lead hazards.
Galvanized steel potable water supply and distribution pipes are commonly found with nominal pipe sizes from 3⁄8 inch (9.5 mm) to 2 inches (51 mm). It is rarely used today for new construction residential plumbing. Steel pipe has National Pipe Thread (NPT) standard tapered male threads, which connect with female tapered threads on elbows, tees, couplers, valves, and other fittings. Galvanized steel (often known simply as "galv" or "iron" in the plumbing trade) is relatively expensive, and difficult to work with due to weight and requirement of a pipe threader. It remains in common use for repair of existing "galv" systems and to satisfy building code non-combustibility requirements typically found in hotels, apartment buildings and other commercial applications. It is also extremely durable and resistant to mechanical abuse. Black lacquered steel pipe is the most widely used pipe material for fire sprinklers and natural gas.

"We just moved to a new house and Luke did an amazing job installing our home entertainment system. We thought we had a simple TV mounting project, but Luke was able to connect all our equipment (some of which was a bit outdated) so we have one seamless audio/visual system. Plus he was able to fix some errors that Comcast had made and willing to jump in and work on a few other small projects I needed done before the holidays. His price was reasonable and in the week since he performed the work I've had 2 people knowledgeble in contracting or wiring compliment the quality of his work."

Present-day water-supply systems use a network of high-pressure pumps, and pipes in buildings are now made of copper, brass, plastic (particularly cross-linked polyethylene called PEX, which is estimated to be used in 60% of single-family homes), or other nontoxic material. Due to its toxicity, most cities moved away from lead water-supply piping by the 1920s in the United States, although lead pipes were approved by national plumbing codes into the 1980s, and lead was used in plumbing solder for drinking water until it was banned in 1986. Drain and vent lines are made of plastic, steel, cast-iron, or lead.
