For some mysterious reason in the days after Thanksgiving, our guest bath toilet became clogged. It was also affecting the washing machine drain and utility sink. I tried my puny homeowner drain snake and quickly realized I needed professional help. I live in Aloha and like working with local companies so I started by calling a company that purports to "bust clogs". I was greeting by an answering machine - never a good sign but I left my name and number anyway. After a couple of hours with no call back, I decided to call ProDrain. A human named Andrea answered and in a very professional manner got a technician on the way to my house in less than an hour. I realize that was partially good fortune but it also indicated to me they are well staffed and ready to react quickly. George appeared on my doorstep at the expected time and immediated sized up the situtation. I liked that he explained the possible options and listened to me as well. The drain clean out was on the other side of the house, so we elected to go in through the roof vent instead. I could tell that getting that snake to where it needed to be was a bit of a black art, as was knowing when he had hit the obstruction. Because you see, there was a solid object in the drain which didn't belong there. Was it a matchbox car? Fisher-price little people? Uncle Roy's missing cell phone? We will never know but plenty of water and reaming pretty much insured it wasn't going to be a problem any more. The charge? I hesitate to give the exact dollar amount here but let's just say it was far enough south of $200 that I can take the wife out for a nice dinner with the change. We were lucky that the vent approach worked, as removing a toilet would have been more. But it helps when you call the right people in the first place.
"Leak Chaser's Plumbing did a great job. I needed to get my new kitchen sink plumbing reconnected after getting new countertops installed and with an existing garbage disposal and new dishwasher. I thought that I could do it myself and save some money, but of course, I got in over my head. The charges were very reasonable and comparable to the other quotes. Nothing's free plumber's have to get their professional lincenses renewed annually at a costly fee like the rest of us in different professions. He was very professional and patience with me. I would recommend and hire them again. Shout out to the DIYers!"

"Woke up on Saturday morning to find my garage flooded and quickly isolated the culprit: my Hot Water Tank. After several inquiries I decided to hire Dr.(David) Dees Plumbing to replace my Hot Water Tank. He arrived that same day at the specified time, evaluated the situation, gave me a couple of options including my contacting the builder of my home to inquire about a possible free replacement (nice to do business with an ethical guy). Because of my time constraints I decided to have David replace the tank. I couldn't be happier with the price and service. He is honest, competent (Master Plumber), conscientious, professional, clean and friendly. He delivered a professional installation of a commercial grade (Gas) Hot Water Tank compliant with all Fort Worth building/installation codes. He answered all my questions. Shared some maintenance tips to extend the life of my tank. Disposed of the old tank and cleaned up his work space afterwards. If there was a grade higher than "Outstanding" I would give it. I would have no problem rehiring David for future plumbing jobs or recommending him to my friends and acquaintances. A+++++ for service and price. Signed Paul D in Fort Worth, TX"

Each Government at the state level has their own Authority and regulations in place for licensing plumbers. They are also responsible for the interpretation, administration and enforcement of the regulations outlined in the NCC. These Authorities are usually established for the sole purpose of regulating plumbing activities in their respective states/territories. However, several state level regulation acts are quite outdated, with some still operating on local policies introduced more than a decade ago. This has led to an increase in plumbing regulatory issues not covered under current policy, and as such, many policies are currently being updated to cover these more modern issues. The updates include changed to the minimum experience and training requirements for licensing, additional work standards for new and more specific kinds of plumbing, as well as adopting the Plumbing Code of Australia into state regulations in an effort to standardise plumbing regulations across the country.
I live in central PA where we have very hard water. I was living with my father-in-law when he got a new water heater because he wanted more capacity. I don't know how old the old one was, but i do know that after it was replaced, we were replacing coils every 6-8 months. This is on top of a new coffee pot every couple of months. He would just buy a $10-$20 pot because the 'better' ones would die too. After we installed the Eddy Water Descaler a little over two years ago, he hasn't had to replace either of those things. I can't speak to how efficient it is compared to other options, but in the time since installing it, it has certainly made noticeable differences to dish spots, hard water deposits, and life expectancy of appliances. It may seem like mumbo jumbo, but there is absolutely something to them, they do work well. And in retrospect, maybe having had it installed earlier would've saved him from feeling like he needed to replace he water heater because it would've been running more efficiently. https://youtube.com/embed/hokTzqWiBMQ
Most typical single family home systems won't require supply piping larger than 3⁄4 inch (19 mm) due to expense as well as steel piping's tendency to become obstructed from internal rusting and mineral deposits forming on the inside of the pipe over time once the internal galvanizing zinc coating has degraded. In potable water distribution service, galvanized steel pipe has a service life of about 30 to 50 years, although it is not uncommon for it to be less in geographic areas with corrosive water contaminants. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hokTzqWiBMQ&feature=share

The difference between pipes and tubes is simply in the way it is sized. PVC pipe for plumbing applications and galvanized steel pipe for instance, are measured in IPS (iron pipe size). Copper tube, CPVC, PeX and other tubing is measured nominally, which is basically an average diameter. These sizing schemes allow for universal adaptation of transitional fittings. For instance, 1/2" PeX tubing is the same size as 1/2" copper tubing. 1/2" PVC on the other hand is not the same size as 1/2" tubing, and therefore requires either a threaded male or female adapter to connect them. When used in agricultural irrigation, the singular form "pipe" is often used as a plural.
Plumbing is any system that conveys fluids for a wide range of applications. Plumbing uses pipes, valves, plumbing fixtures, tanks, and other apparatuses to convey fluids. Heating and cooling (HVAC), waste removal, and potable water delivery are among the most common uses for plumbing, but it is not limited to these applications. The word derives from the Latin for lead, plumbum, as the first effective pipes used in the Roman era were lead pipes.
