Most large cities today pipe solid wastes to sewage treatment plants in order to separate and partially purify the water, before emptying into streams or other bodies of water. For potable water use, galvanized iron piping was commonplace in the United States from the late 1800s until around 1960. After that period, copper piping took over, first soft copper with flared fittings, then with rigid copper tubing utilizing soldered fittings.
This review comes a few weeks late, but I called A&A plumbing after receiving several quotes to repair a belly in my main sewer line. I was told the main line back ups were being caused by the belly. When August came out he was very professional and took his time to properly diagnose the problem which was not the belly but was a buildup of grout from a bathroom remodel. August hydro-jetted the main line and rest of the house and installed a two way clean out. Since then no issues. He saved me about 4K and breaking up my foundation to fix an issue that was not causing the problem. Thank you August and A&A plumbing. I refer everyone who asks to this company. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hokTzqWiBMQ&app=mobile
Joe did an excellent job. He arrived on time, provided us with options, respected the option we selected, completed the work quickly and left the area very clean. He noticed that my husband was ex-military and so he provided us with military vet pricing as well as the complementary home protection plan. I would definitely use him for any future plumbing issues.
Another way to avoid a service call from your plumber is to make sure the outside faucets are turned off in the winter and make sure you disconnect the outside hoses. You need to shut the water off from the inside. Then, open the valve on the outside to let the water that’s in there drain out—you switch both of them to the opposite direction so one is always closed and one is always open. We have to fix tons of these in the spring mostly because people leave their outside hoses connected and they freeze up. The repair could cost $100-$200 or more. Another tip would be if you’re going away for any length of time, like on vacation, turn off your water. If on any of those days the temperature drops below freezing, have someone check in on your house. I’ve been called to homes where the family returned from vacation, and there was water flooding out from the front door. https://www.youtube.com/e/hokTzqWiBMQ

Plumbing originated during ancient civilizations such as the Greek, Roman, Persian, Indian, and Chinese cities as they developed public baths and needed to provide potable water and wastewater removal, for larger numbers of people. Standardized earthen plumbing pipes with broad flanges making use of asphalt for preventing leakages appeared in the urban settlements of the Indus Valley Civilization by 2700 BC. The Romans used lead pipe inscriptions to prevent water theft. The word "plumber" dates from the Roman Empire. The Latin for lead is plumbum. Roman roofs used lead in conduits and drain pipes and some were also covered with lead. Lead was also used for piping and for making baths.

Don’t flush floss, tampons, or even so-called “flushable” wipes. They don’t break down like toilet paper does and can come back to haunt you later. “Toilets are more water-efficient now than they were 20 years ago, so there sometimes isn’t enough volume in the flush to force debris down,” says Marcin Wroblewski, president of ExpressRooter Plumbing in Toronto. “An object will get lodged in the trap and cause blockage when waste builds up days later.” https://m.youtu.be/hokTzqWiBMQ
Plumbers, pipefitters, and steamfitters may use many different materials and construction techniques, depending on the type of project. Residential water systems, for example, use copper, steel, and plastic pipe that one or two plumbers can install. Power plant water systems, by contrast, are made of large steel pipes that usually take a crew of pipefitters to install. Some workers install stainless steel pipes on dairy farms and in factories, mainly to prevent contamination.

I live in central PA where we have very hard water. I was living with my father-in-law when he got a new water heater because he wanted more capacity. I don't know how old the old one was, but i do know that after it was replaced, we were replacing coils every 6-8 months. This is on top of a new coffee pot every couple of months. He would just buy a $10-$20 pot because the 'better' ones would die too. After we installed the Eddy Water Descaler a little over two years ago, he hasn't had to replace either of those things. I can't speak to how efficient it is compared to other options, but in the time since installing it, it has certainly made noticeable differences to dish spots, hard water deposits, and life expectancy of appliances. It may seem like mumbo jumbo, but there is absolutely something to them, they do work well. And in retrospect, maybe having had it installed earlier would've saved him from feeling like he needed to replace he water heater because it would've been running more efficiently. https://youtube.com/embed/hokTzqWiBMQ

We had our main water line break! Forgive the copy and paste but I also wrote this up on Re-Pipe Specialist's review page. Always remember, when a job is subcontracted out, to review both the agency as well as the subcontractor! Yesterday, the crew from Pro Drain showed up to get to work. There were a number of guys who patiently waited as I cornered all five cats to get them into one room for safety. They laid down sheets all over the house so the floors would stay clean and did a walk through inspection and explained everything in great detail. The personalities of these guys were awesome. They're from ProDrain, the company subcontracted by Re-Pipe Specialists. I felt comfortable with them being in my home while I was at work all day. They were confident, friendly, and just the nicest guys. I came home from work and there were no work trucks outside of my home. I walked inside, and my home was silent. No more water leak sounds, no more dripping faucets. I double checked everything - above and beyond work. I think they actually left our garage bathroom cleaner than it was when they got here? Our tap water is drinkable straight from the tap. Our water pressure is amazing. The bathroom shower is amazing!!! There was zero, zero mess left behind. And the pipes are professionally put in place - the job passed inspection today. They literally re-piped our entire home in a work day. They even watered my daphne plants before they left. Come on!!!! It does not get better than this. The great, positive attitude, the great customer service, totally reasonable price, and the exceptional job... I am beyond happy with my experience.
The difference between pipes and tubes is simply in the way it is sized. PVC pipe for plumbing applications and galvanized steel pipe for instance, are measured in IPS (iron pipe size). Copper tube, CPVC, PeX and other tubing is measured nominally, which is basically an average diameter. These sizing schemes allow for universal adaptation of transitional fittings. For instance, 1/2" PeX tubing is the same size as 1/2" copper tubing. 1/2" PVC on the other hand is not the same size as 1/2" tubing, and therefore requires either a threaded male or female adapter to connect them. When used in agricultural irrigation, the singular form "pipe" is often used as a plural.

Wooden pipes were used in London and elsewhere during the 16th and 17th centuries. The pipes were hollowed-out logs, which were tapered at the end with a small hole in which the water would pass through. The multiple pipes were then sealed together with hot animal fat. They were often used in Montreal and Boston in the 1800s, and built-up wooden tubes were widely used in the USA during the 20th century. These pipes, used in place of corrugated iron or reinforced concrete pipes, were made of sections cut from short lengths of wood. Locking of adjacent rings with hardwood dowel pins produced a flexible structure. About 100,000 feet of these wooden pipes were installed during WW2 in drainage culverts, storm sewers and conduits, under highways and at army camps, naval stations, airfields and ordnance plants. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hokTzqWiBMQ&app=desktop
Similar to unclogging the sewer main, the Roto-Rooter technician will run a rotating mini-rooter auger machine, otherwise known as a drain snake, down the branch line. The auger will begin at the area of the clog, such as the shower drain, and run as far as the sewer main. Sometimes the snake only needs to extend as far as the nearby trap in order to unclog the line.
^ "II. The Plumbers". The Atlantic. Retrieved 17 September 2013. In the early evening of June 17, 1971, Henry Kissinger held forth in the Oval Office, telling his President, and John Ehrlichman and Bob Haldeman, all about Daniel Ellsberg. Kissinger's comments were recorded, of course, on the hidden White House taping system, and four years later, a portion of that tape was listened to by the Watergate Special Prosecution Force, which was then investigating the internal White House police unit known as the Plumbers.
“Don’t assume that every Mr. Fix-it advertising his services in the local Pennysaver or on Craigslist is a licensed plumber,” says one New York plumber. There is no national standard for issuing licenses. Some plumbers are licensed by the state, others by the counties they work in. Check with your local city hall or chamber of commerce. They should be able to direct you to the appropriate source for a list of licensed plumbers in your area. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hokTzqWiBMQ&app=desktop

I have recently purchased a house with an older roof that needs to be restored soon. So, I am trying to decide on I should go with a metal roof other than shingles. If I install metal roofing over solid decking such as OSB or plywood, integrate with a properly insulated garret, there is very little noise difference compared to standard asphalt shingles. I have briefly read benefits and drawbacks of Metal roofing but as I listed before I should go to metal roofing and hiring a roofing contractor no matter its expensive or noisy anyhow, Your article has cleared a lot of misinterpretation I’ve had before.
Our kitchen sink was stopped up this morning due to me pouring something down that I shouldn't have. I tried pouring boiling water down the drain, to no avail, vinegar/soda, again, not helpful, then called the Professionals, ProDrain & Rooter Service. Chris arrived at 4:30 pm, took the drain apart, rinsed out the gunk and the sink was running like a Champ! I would not hesitate to call ProDrain & Rooter Service for any type of plumbing problem.
